2.1 Area type and task delimitation

Different urban areas

Each part of the city is a unique collection of physical, spatial, functional, social, historical, meaningful and natural elements. These factors provide different starting points for co-creation and for the systems targeted.

The project identified the following spatial typologies for different starting points in mobility and energy systems:

  • Dense area
  • Not so dense area
  • Infill development area
  • New area
  • Different areas according to the main use (industrial, office, residential)
  • Different areas for the region’s mobility and energy infrastructure
  • Areas with different soils (energy)

Land ownership was also identified as a particular factor affecting the means of achieving sustainability and engagement.

Task delimitation

Co-creation of sustainability can be about the whole area and all its systems, or about certain systems, such as energy, mobility, urban services or green infrastructure addressed in this project. The target can also be parts of the system.
